Please be careful walking close to the edge of the pond as it's quite deep with muddy silt until it dries out.
The water level you see now is the drought-level...this is the lowest level it might fall to in future and will allow most aquatic life in there to survive at those times of drought which we are in now. I imagine the dominant plant in there will be the reed mace which are just starting to grow there, Most years it should be 18"-2ft higher...The deepest parts (Tritton Road end) will be 4-5ft in most years of average rainfall I think.
Please tell anyone you see or who thinks of putting small fish in from the main lake not to as the water will be limed soon to finish off any remaining silt and it might harm them. Thanks
