I'd like to thank Mick (Yokker) Turner and Steve, our  Chairman, for their combined and  charitable efforts to make the recreation of the pond a reality. Awesome job guys. Once it's planted  out I'm sure it will be a marvelous and attractive habitat for the lake's wildlife. :)

There are plenty of pictures uploaded by members about it for you to browse if you wish to look.

The Pond

Please be careful walking close to the edge of the pond as it's quite deep with muddy silt until it dries out.

The water level you see now is the drought-level...this is the lowest level it might fall to in future and will allow most aquatic life in there to survive at those times of drought which we are in now. I imagine the dominant plant in there will be the reed mace which are just starting to grow there, Most years it should be 18"-2ft higher...The deepest parts (Tritton Road end) will be 4-5ft in most years of average rainfall I think.

Please tell anyone you see or who thinks of putting small fish in from the main lake not to as the water will be limed soon to finish off any remaining silt and it might  harm them. Thanks

Steve  and Mick are busy digging the pond out which hopefully will be dug out by tomorrow. If you want to upload any pictures of their work I've created an album called "Starmers Pond" for you to put them in.

Poo!

Posted by Tony on September 30, 2011 at 4:30 AM Comments comments (0)

A volunteer on Hartsholme found some bagged up human excrement on The Point with an empty gas canister and sweetcorn tin a couple of days ago. It could jeopardise night fishing on Hartsholme if this keeps happening so would you let me know if you suspect anyone doing this sort of thing. The park admin go through all the bushes when they are litter picking so they are bound to find it.

I'm going to put it before the syndicate committee that possession of a crap bucket be mandatory for all night members and instant ejection from the syndicate if found out.......this is irresponsible behavoiuor and not fair on the responsible ones.

Bivvying Up On Hartsholme

Posted by Tony on September 24, 2011 at 6:20 AM Comments comments (2)

It was mentioned at the advisory group meeting about one or two incidents of anglers obstructing walkways on the park. Will you endeavour to  keep your tackle and bivvies as far off the footpaths as possible in the circumstances please? Hartsholme is a multi-user environment so it's essential we reduce our occupational footprint as much as possible. Thanks.
